Dear Twin City Garden Club Members,

What a great January meeting with Betsy Pringle leading us in a discussion of “The Great Healthy Yard Project”!  Thanks to everyone for making the effort to navigate the snow – and particularly to Elliott and Sarah for hosting.  Betsy did a great job of engaging us all in conversation and exchange of information.

I’m a big fan of a “to do” list and we’ve got a lot of opportunities for club members coming up.  All this information is detailed in our newsletter but here is an overview of some of the things to consider:

  • email thoughts or suggestions about club awards to Sissy
  • membership proposals are due to Ashby by February 15
  • go to the GCA website or check your Bulletin to see the projects nominated for The Founders Fund
  • forward any charitable giving ideas to Nancy using the proposal form on our this website by February 15
  • email Sherrie the name of a pollinator in your yard
  • volunteer and buy tickets for the Garden Council fundraiser “Beyond the Garden Gates” on April 29-30

Lots to think about!!  Looking at the list makes me proud of the impact we have on our environment on both a local and national level.  All the funds raised by the Garden Council are used for local beautification and education projects.  The Founders Fund and the GCA Pollinator Project are two examples of how our membership in GCA has a national impact.  And working with Nancy and our Charitable Giving Committee allows us to all help decide where we can make a difference at the local, state and national level.

Thanks for all the hard work and thought you put into Twin City Garden Club.  We have two fun and important meetings right around the corner.  On February 23 at 6pm we will meet at Diamondback Grill to learn about “Farm to Table During the Long Winter Months”.  And on March 22 we will have our Annual Business Meeting where our Zone Chair, Candy Crosby will be our guest speaker.  Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!!!
